Our Story

Rooted in Frederick County

A family's love for land, animals, and honest wine.

The Beginning

From Farmland to Vineyard

In 2015, after thorough soil and elevation work on this specific stretch of the Piedmont, Errol and Berenice Rushovich planted their first vines. Not because the timing was right commercially. Because the land was ready.

"Good fruit is the key to good wine. Everything else follows from that."

The 127-acre farm that surrounds the vineyard is not a backdrop. It's a living operation, with a duck program, 60 acres of working cropland, and a set of farming principles that treat sustainability as a baseline, not a marketing claim.

Libertas Estates sits in a stretch of Frederick County that has quietly become a destination. Farm stores, creameries, breweries, and coffee shops run by neighbors who share the same relationship with the land. Come for the tasting. Stay for the afternoon.
